Getting our Bodies Ready for Gardening

Getting our Bodies Ready for Gardening

If you are like me you have been a little more sedentary these past few wintry months than we will be now that we can get out into our gardens. I recently came across an article written by Carol O’Meara, a Colorado State Extension Horticulture Agent.

She writes about getting our bodies ready for the physical work of gardening. She tells us to:
1. Stretch your body before lifting, pulling, pushing and bending.
2. Use proper tools that will do the work with less strain.
3. Change from one task to another after 20-30 minutes to give a break from repetitive motion.
4. Stretch after your gardening chores.
